Shopping Southport.
The story
The Southport Corridor is a stretch of N Southport Ave in Lakeview, running from Belmont Ave up to Irving Park Rd. It feels residential, and it mixes national lifestyle brands with a few long-running independent boutiques. The shops are densest between Roscoe St and Addison St, and most of the ones we list sit on the 3400 and 3500 blocks.
Women's clothing leads the mix. Krista K is the independent anchor, a long-running designer boutique carrying Ulla Johnson, Veronica Beard, Zimmermann and GANNI. Around it are Anthropologie, Free People, Johnny Was and EVEREVE, plus activewear from Vuori, Athleta and lululemon. It suits a relaxed weekend browse, with coffee and brunch between stops.
What to Expect
Start at the south end, where Colectivo Coffee (3258 N Southport Ave) pours from 6:30am and Fleet Feet Lakeview (3359) sells running shoes, apparel and gear. The 3400 block is the heart of the strip. Sephora (3405) offers makeup applications and brow and lip waxing. Athleta (3415) and J.Crew (3423) face each other, and Gap (3416) carries babyGap and GapKids for family basics. Kendra Scott (3426) does free engraving, Warby Parker (3432) does eye exams, and Buck Mason (3438) has tees, denim and jackets. EVEREVE (3440) has stylists who pull head-to-toe looks, Vuori (3443) sells performance and lounge clothes, and Free People (3447) adds beauty and intimates. Krista K is at 3458.
On the 3500 block, Johnny Was (3510) sells embroidered dresses and separates, and Anthropologie (3532) has clothing, home goods and a shoe department. ThirdLove (3539) fits bras with its Fit Stylists, Paper Source (3543) is the stop for a card and a gift, and lululemon (3556) sits at the north end.
Best Time to Visit
Most shops open at 10am or 11am and close between 6pm and 8pm Monday to Saturday. Sundays are shorter, roughly 11am to 6pm, and most of the chain stores close at 7pm Monday to Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. Anthropologie, Gap and EVEREVE stay open to 8pm Monday to Saturday. If Krista K is the main stop, go on Saturday: on Sunday it opens at noon and closes at 5pm. Buck Mason and ThirdLove open at 11am. For an early start, Colectivo opens at 6:30am daily. Book the appointment stops ahead: Warby Parker eye exams and ThirdLove fittings.
If You Only Have an Hour
Park once and walk the 3400 block. Start at Sephora (3405) at the Roscoe end, then walk to Kendra Scott (3426). Continue to Warby Parker (3432) and EVEREVE (3440), and finish at Krista K (3458), the strip's independent boutique.
