Insider guide
Shopping West Loop.
The story
West Loop and Fulton Market are former meatpacking blocks where brand flagships, furniture showrooms and galleries sit between restaurant rows. The shopping runs along W Fulton Market and W Randolph St, roughly from N Halsted St to N Racine Ave, with N Morgan and N Sangamon linking the two. It suits outdoor-gear and design shoppers who want lunch or dinner on Randolph in the same trip.
Fulton Market is where the big outdoor and design names cluster. Patagonia, Fjällräven, Herman Miller and the Geneva Seal watch gallery are all in the 1100 block. Randolph mixes shops into its restaurant row, with Warby Parker, Lovesac, Bluemercury, lululemon and Free People.
A Little History
Randolph Street has been a market street since 1850, when the city built West Market Hall in a widened stretch west of Desplaines; an 1881 ordinance turned it into the open-air West Randolph Street produce market, which ran until 1963.
Fulton Market's name comes from the 22 meatpackers who formed the Fulton Street Wholesale Market Company and finished two market buildings between Peoria and Green in 1887. By the early 1900s Armour, Swift and Morris all had branch houses on the street.
What to Expect
Start in the 1100 block of W Fulton Market. Herman Miller (1100 W Fulton Market) has a ground-floor store where you can walk in and try office chairs. Fjällräven (1101) carries backpacks and G-1000 jackets and trousers. Patagonia (1115) splits a former meatpacking warehouse between new gear and Worn Wear trade-ins, used gear and repairs. Geneva Seal Gallery (1133) opened in August 2026 with Hublot's first Chicago boutique and also sells Omega, Breitling and independent watchmakers.
Monos (170 N Morgan St) sells luggage and travel accessories, and its lounge, Postcard, is next door. On Randolph, Warby Parker (851) does eye exams and free frame adjustments, Lovesac (911) lets you test Sactional seat depths and fabrics, Bluemercury (924) sells skincare and makeup, lululemon is at 932, and Free People (1101) carries dresses, shoes and FP Movement activewear. Notre (118 N Peoria St) is the menswear and sneaker stop. For art, Kavi Gupta (835 W Washington Blvd) fills three floors and keeps prints in a second-floor Editions room.
Best Time to Visit
Most shops open around 10 or 11am and close at 6 or 7pm, with shorter Sunday hours. Galleries close Sunday and Monday; Kavi Gupta is open Tuesday to Friday 11am–6pm and Saturday noon–5pm. Notre is closed Monday and Tuesday. Publican Quality Meats opens at 8am daily, so it's the early start. Weekday breakfast runs until 11am and weekend brunch is 9am–3pm. Randolph Street Market, the antiques and vintage market at Plumbers Hall (1341 W Randolph St), runs only on set weekends, 10am–5pm. The remaining 2026 dates are Nov 14–15 and Dec 12–13, both indoor holiday markets.
If You Only Have an Hour
Get off at Morgan and start at Monos (170 N Morgan St). Then head to Fulton Market for Herman Miller (1100), Fjällräven (1101) and Patagonia (1115), all on the same block. Finish at Publican Quality Meats (825 W Fulton Market) for charcuterie and cheese to take home.
Where to Eat
Publican Quality Meats (825 W Fulton Market) doubles as lunch. It's a butcher shop, café and bakery, and the chicken parm or falafel sandwich is the order. Italian Homemade Company (947 W Fulton Market) is counter service for made-from-scratch pasta at around $15 a dish from 11am. For dinner, The Publican (837 W Fulton Market) serves oysters and meat dishes at communal tables. Rose Mary (932 W Fulton St) does Croatian-Italian food and keeps the bar for walk-ins, and Duck Duck Goat (857 W Fulton Market) serves Chinese dishes like duck and goat spring rolls.
